Appropriate that while I make this post, “Home” by Edward Sharpe + The Magnetic Zeros is playing. ”Home is when I’m alone with you”.
Jen + Shawn recently bought their home, and what better place to photograph them, than in their own home?
But this is not what you may think it is. This is not an engagement session. Jen + Shawn have been married for three years, and they are doing this session — not because they are getting married or having a family — but because it is a wonderful way to celebrate their amazing union. Their everyday, fabulous relationship.
We’d had this idea a year ago, but the excitement behind it grew after a workshop that Jen and I recently completed by Jesh de Rox. In a nutshell, Jesh is creating a movement amongst photographers to use these types of photo sessions to celebrate and renew relationships. And it’s having an enormous impact on people who choose to do these sessions. Here is a history of the movement. If this sounds interesting to you, and you’d like to try this kind of a shoot with me, I’d be more than happy to do it! Give your relationship a boosty-loo.
All that aside, this photo shoot was very special to me, as Jen is a very special friend of mine. She runs Jen Arron Photography from the same studio as I run Documentographer. We see each other daily, and I can’t imagine my life without her. Perhaps we should just say, “home is where Jen is.”
